SERVING ROANOKE PILOTS SINCE 2016

WHY WE
TEACH FLYING.

We opened Star Flight Training to create knowledgeable pilots who understand their aircraft and make good decisions in the air.

OUR BEGINNING

A simple goal,
taken seriously.

Since opening in 2016, our goal has been simple: pair experienced instructors with modern equipment to create knowledgeable and capable pilots.

From the beginning, we wanted training to mean more than passing a written test or checking boxes. Flying is a skill that stays with you for life. Understanding why something happens is just as important as learning how to do it.

WHY STAR FLIGHT TRAINING

From a first flight
to something bigger.

Over the years, we have watched students arrive with no aviation experience at all. Some had never stepped into a small airplane. Seeing them grow into confident pilots is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

A first discovery flight can lead to a solo, followed by certificates and ratings that once felt out of reach. Some of our students build careers in aviation. Others fly because it is something they have always wanted to do. Both paths matter equally to us.

Instruction that connects

Everyone learns
a little differently.

Learning to fly can be challenging. Our instructors bring real experience and a genuine love for aviation into each lesson, but good instruction also requires knowing when to change the explanation.

We want students to feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. Aviation can feel overwhelming at first, so nobody should feel as though they are figuring it out alone.

BUILT FOR THE WAY WE TRAIN

Aircraft chosen
with purpose.

Students learn best in aircraft suited to the work they are doing. That belief guides how we build and maintain our fleet.

Still the same mission

Pass it forward.

Our mission today is much the same as it was in 2016. We want to develop safe pilots who are confident in their decisions. We also want to share something we genuinely enjoy and care about. Flying has given us a great deal over the years. The opportunity to pass that experience to the next generation of pilots is something we never take for granted.
